CLLD-CulTour aspires through the formation and function of Cross-Border stakeholder action groups and the design, development and testing of the touristic route ‘Culture of the Cradle of Europe’ and the corresponding digital tools to have the following results:

Outcome 1

Adding cultural tourism to touristic offers of CB territories, thereby complementing mass tourism provided in the coastal zone of programme territories;

Outcome 2

Prolong touristic season and redirect some tourists from areas with exceeded carrying capacity to mountainous and rural areas with less developed tourism;

Outcome 3

Increase attractiveness to tourists of CB territories via the modernization of the tourism sector through innovative touristic offers, digital tools and cooperative community-based development strategies;

Outcome 4

Build the capacity of tourism stakeholders to develop cultural tourism;

Outcome 5

Increase employment and attract investments in the cultural tourism sector.

By complementing the mass tourism model, prolonging the touristic season and diversifying touristic offers of programme territories, CLLD-CulTour will contribute to tourism growth and increase annual tourist stays in the cross-border area by extending the touristic season and diversifying touristic offers, thus attracting more visitors in the long-term. CLLD-CulTour is expected to increase the efficiency of the public sector in cross-border territories with regards to the application of innovative community-based approaches to development. Its tourism development approach is founded on stakeholder and community involvement in the preservation and promotion of cultural resources, thereby rendering the protection of cultural heritage an asset for tourism development and keeping the interest of stakeholders in its preservation. This will result in an increase of visits to sites of cultural attractions. Also, the involvement of 2000 stakeholders in awareness raising will result in improving their capacity to sustainably promote cultural resources.
